The National Demolition Association (NDA) says Roger I. Homrich, former president of the association, died Dec. 11. He was 68.
Homrich joined the demolition industry with his father, Ivan, and brother, Randall Homrich, at Homrich Wrecking Inc., Carleton, Michigan, where he eventually became president. During his time with the family company, the NDA says he pioneered the concept of vertically integrating demolition services by combining landfill ownership with demolition, environmental cleanup and trucking services.
In 1993, he was elected president of the NDA, becoming the youngest person to hold the position. During his time as president, Homrich helped form the NDA Charitable Foundation to promote funding additional educational opportunities. He also established the Lifetime Achievement Award, which he received in 2016 for his accomplishments in the demolition industry.
Homrich is survived by his wife, Norma, and their four children. He also leaves behind five siblings, 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Homrich’s sons, Scott and Tim Homrich, serve as the CEO and president of Homrich Wrecking, with Scott Homrich taking on the role of NDA president earlier this year.
