SmartHog System

Jeffrey Specialty Equipment Corp. has introduced the SmartHog System, which is designed to help wood hog operators identify the nature and severity of their machines’ operations problems faster, schedule maintenance functions more efficiently and prevent repeat failures. Available only through Jeffrey authorized distributors, the new SmartHog System integrates with existing control systems for rotating machinery. Unlike traditional condition monitoring systems that relate only standard processes or control data, the SmartHog System provides information on the machine’s overall health and operations, including conditions like worn and damaged hammers and rotors, worn or bent shafts, bearing problems and excessive vibrations. System modules and sensors collect data continuously, monitoring the hog’s overall vibration and temperature levels, as well as seven different discrete frequency ranges. This information is then communicated via Device Net or Ethernet with Allen Bradley plant control systems, giving users easy access to CM data through their existing control infrastructure.
