Atlas Copco Construction Tools, Westfield, Mass., has introduced its first mid-range addition to the company’s generation of SB hydraulic breaker attachments, the SB 302. The breaker is designed for demolition, road construction, trenching, landscaping and secondary breaking. The SB 302 can deliver a maximum impact rate of 1,380 blows per minute, a 48 percent increase over its predecessor, the company says. The 670-pound breaker is suitable for carriers in the 4.5- to-9-metric ton weight class. The SB 302 requires oil flow of 13.2 to 21.9 gallons per minute at a pressure range of 1,450 to 2,175 pressure per square inch. The breaker also features a one-piece design that contains all integral parts in the same iron alloy casting for exceptional strength and reliability, the company says. Its slim line design also allows for better operator visibility and easy positioning in confined spaces, such as during indoor demolition and narrow trenching, the company adds. A new hammer mechanism with recoil dampening can reduce vibrations by up to 53 percent and noise levels can be lowered by 5 decibels. The SB 302 also features a built-in pressure relief valve as standard equipment to protect the breaker from exceeding recommended operating pressure.
