New steel bumpers are now standard equipment on all East Live-Floor and Tipper transfer trailers. Bolt-on bumpers provide additional strength and protection for the refuse trailer, increasing overall service life. For East live-floor trailers, the bumper incorporates a slope plate designed to interface with kinds of equipment, typically a dozer, used to push transfer trailers when they encounter muddy or sloppy conditions. For East tipper trailers, the bumper has built-in rubber pads designed to reduce the stress and impact where the trailer interfaces with a tipping platform. The bolt-on design uses special connectors to inhibit galvanic corrosion.
