409 Wheel Loader

JCB Inc., Pooler, Ga., has introduced its new 409 wheel loader. The machine is powered by a Tier III complaint four-cylinder turbocharged engine offering 75 horsepower. This drives through a hydrostatic transmission to both axles, providing all-wheel drive for traction in poor ground conditions. The 409 has an operating weight of 12,831 pounds and features parallel loader arms which offer improved visibility to the front of the machine. With a standard 1.3-cubic-yard bucket, the 409 offers a straight tipping load of 10,840 pounds and a full-turn tipping load of 8,628 pounds. With optional pallet forks fitted, the machine can handle a 5,500 pound load. The machine also features a revised chassis design that uses an oscillating central pivot to maintain ground contact with all four wheels. The 409 benefits from grouped service points and eye-level gauges and access to the engine is made easy with wide operating engine covers.
