San Jose, Calif.-based Zero Waste Energy LLC, a waste industry company specializing in recovering recyclables and in green energy production, has acquired the North American license for in-vessel composting (IVC) technologies developed by its German partner, Eggersmann Anlagenbau.
ZWE says it will combine the IVC technology with its previously acquired license for the Kompoferm dry anaerobic digestion technology from Eggersmann Anlagenbau.
“In-vessel composting is another alternative employed to accomplish the natural aerobic break down of biodegradable waste to create a high-quality compost product,” Zero Waste states in a press release. “The IVC Plus system, developed by Eggersmann, is a break-through in-vessel composting technology that requires 50 percent less cycle time than traditional aerobic compost processes.”
Using ZWE’s IVC Plus System, the company says it can accomplish the active compost process and maturation period in less than 28 days, at which time the compost is ready to bag for retail sales or sold in bulk. IVC Plus also offers a smaller footprint, lower infrastructure and lower operating costs per ton processed compared with other composting systems, according to ZWE.
