ConExpo 2011 served as a platform for materials trading website Zamray.com, Westminster, Colo., to unveil the latest version of its site, which helps connect construction machinery, salvaged items and C&D materials in inventory with potential buyers.
Between ZamRay’s January introduction at World of Concrete and the ConExpo show in late March 2011, the company says it “has found a hungry niche within the world of construction-based associations. “
During that span, according to a ZamRay news release, “ZamRay has created partnership agreements with dozens of [chapters]” of associations such as the AGC (Associated General Contractors), ABC (Associated Builders and Contractors), IEC (Independent Electrical Contractors) and ASA (American Subcontractors Association).
To date, ZamRay has more than 24,000 postings on its website (www.ZamRay.com), according to spokesperson Doug Larson.
ZamRay’s primary service allows contractors to place their surplus inventory into an online classified advertising marketplace that is limited to those in the construction industry and allied fields. “This effectively opens up the surplus materials to thousands of prospective buyers across the United States,” says the company in its news release. “Buyers can search by material type, geography or price. The intrinsically green solution from ZamRay is ideal because it keeps excess inventory out of the landfills and in proper-use situations. Plus, the days of losing money on dead inventory are now over,” states ZamRay.
In addition to excess inventory, companies can buy and sell construction equipment, vehicles, real estate and building materials (including crushed concrete and other secondary materials), according to Logan. Other services offered through the site include posting resumes and job openings and being listed in a directory for future project bid opportunities.
“We are excited to have ZamRay a part of the IEC team,” says Spenser Villwock, executive director of the Rocky Mountain chapter of IEC. “They have a visionary new construction industry website that offers a full suite of services for contractors. ZamRay is a great portal for buying and selling surplus materials—supporting reclaimed, green building practices—in addition to finding out about upcoming events, and so much more,” he adds.
