The York County (North Carolina) Council has given preliminary approval for a rezoning proposal that would allow a construction and demolition debris landfill to expand, according to a report in the Charlotte Observer (Charlotte, N.C.).
The property’s owners have requested an expansion because they say the landfill will reach its maximum capacity by 2008.
Only one land developer spoke against the project, saying that it was inconsistent with the other development projects in the area, which include homes and commercial developments, according to the report.
