The Waste & Resources Action Programme is set to run a second series of Recycled Roads workshops early next year.
The series of interactive, practical workshops will give highway engineers, consultants, contractors and suppliers a further opportunity to discover how to increase the specification, procurement and use of recycled and secondary aggregates.
The event will cover both England and Scotland. The program will feature updated information from the first series of workshops , with the addition of regional case studies for Scottish events. The aim is to demonstrate the benefits – financial and environmental – of using recycled materials in roads and to address key topics including:
· recycling in local authority highway works;
· procurement and specifying recycled content;
· making recycling work in the local authority environment; and
· developing specifications to encourage recycling.
The workshops are delivered by specialists from WRAP, BRE, TRL, Atkins Highways and Capita Symonds and are supported by CECA, Constructing Excellence, CSS, ICE, IHIE, IHT and SCOTS. In addition, regional speakers will showcase local examples of highway and street maintenance recycling at each event. Each delegate will also receive a copy of WRAP’s published procurement guidance document ‘Recycled Roads – A step-by-step guide to local authority procurement’.
