The Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen has announced that a civil environmental enforcement action arising from landfill and air violations at Pheasant Run Recycling & Disposal Facility, Paris, Wis., has been filed and resolved.
The initial complaint alleges that from the fall of 2008 until the end of May 2009, Waste Management, the facility operator, failed to cover 10 acres of waste at Pheasant Run as required by its permit. In addition, the complaint alleges that between 2004 and 2005, Waste Management replaced two engines at Pheasant Run without a construction permit as required by the administrative code.
Waste Management has agreed to pay forfeitures and costs totaling $100,000 for the violations. The settlement was approved April 15, 2011.
