Wisconsin Plant Demo Yields Material for Recycling

Lighting fixtures, steel, insulation and concrete will be recycled from the demolition of the Larsen Canning Co. in Green Bay, Wis.

The demolition of a property in downtown Green Bay, Wis., has yielded plenty of materials for recycling, according to a report in the Oshkosh Northwestern (Oshkosh, Wis.).

For instance, lighting fixtures are being salvaged for sale or recycling as the Larsen Canning Co. site is demolished. On Broadway Inc., the company heading up the site’s redevelopment plan, and its partner companies are working to recycle about 97 percent of the buildings that are being torn down. Material will include tons of steel, insulation and concrete.

On Broadway Inc., acquired the former Larsen/Dean Foods/Argilink/Bird’s Eye canning company in June. The company plans on transforming the 22-acre property into a development that includes working, living and entertainment spaces, which calls for the demolition of some buildings and renovation of others.
