The Hamm HC 110i and HC 250i compactors from the Germany-based Wirtgen Group business unit of John Deere have been awarded a recipient of the German Design Awards Special Mention, awarded to outstanding examples of design.

The German Design Awards, presented each year by the German Design Council, recognizes major design trends and honors exceptional product design, communication design and architecture.

The jury commended the compactors’ “thoughtfully designed platform concept, quiet and eco-friendly operation, innovative cab design and high level of user-friendliness,” according to Wirtgen Group.

The Hamm HC 110i and HC 250i compactors weigh between 11 and 25 tons and offer high power, simple operation and eco-friendly application, according to Wirtgen. Hamm is one of five brands across the road construction sector that fall under the Wirtgen Group, including milling, processing, mixing, paving, compaction and rehabilitation.
