Findlay, Ohio-based Werk-Brau has introduced the 40EX-HD Brush Shredder, an attachment that allows backhoe loaders and compact excavators to become “powerful mulchers” and long-reach boom mowers.
The new attachment for land clearing contractors is equipped with a 40-inch cutting width and "hefty" triple flail knives that cut material up to 5 inches thick.
“This 1,170-pound workhorse turns trees, brush and woody material into mulch, quickly and easily,” Werk-Brau says, noting the 40EX-HD is built tough for remote work.
The shredder features a heavy-duty, single-piece frame, a 0.5-inch-thick cutter drum and 3/8-inch-thick end plates.
According to Werk-Brau an electronically balanced cutter drum with serviceable hubs ensures straight shafts that run smoothly for years of reliable service. An integrated thumb saddle works like a bucket to grab and remove debris or to reposition logs.
Additionally, antiwrap wire guards protect bearings and seals from debris and a composite dampener washer has been designed to isolate vibration and increase the life span of drive components.
The 40EX-HD exceeds all SAE International J1001 standards for flail mowers, says Werk-Brau, making it ideal for backhoes and compact excavators from in the 16,000 to 24,000 pounds range.
Werk-Brau manufactures OEM and replacement attachments for excavators, mini-excavators, backhoes, mini- and full-size loaders, crawler loaders and skid steers.
