Wrecking Corporation of America announced that it has completed the demolition of 150,000 square feet of Manassas Mall, Manassas, Va. Additionally, the company removed 100 tons of contaminated soil from site.
The project consisted of razing a former department store, a one-story steel frame building, and a portion of the existing adjacent mall.
"The soil contamination is from the leaking hydraulic lifts in the Sears Auto Center," said Terry Anderson, Wrecking Corp's executive vice president. "This is fairly common in these types of jobs."
The general contractor for the project is the Ashburn, Virginia-based Dietz Construction Group, Inc.
