The headquarters location for Wastequip, a Charlotte, North Carolina-based equipment company, has been recognized by the Charlotte Business Journal with its “Best Places to Work” award for the second year in a row.
The company cited the change it made at its headquarters from traditional office spaces to an open environment as a key reason the newspaper recognized the North Carolina company for the second consecutive year.
“We all worked well in our private offices and segmented departments beforehand,” says CEO Marty Bryant. “But the office relocation called for change, and the solitude of those offices needed to go.”
The company notes that the move to an open space environment fosters teamwork and cross-department collaboration.
Bryant adds, “Being named among Charlotte’s ‘Best Places to Work’ for a second consecutive year, despite this significant change within our headquarters environment, proves that we can still offer great benefits to our employees and provide a superior corporate office, yet create a better workplace as well—one that is more comfortable, more collaborative and, overall, more efficient.”
Wastequip will be replicating the open-office environment at other locations around the country including its facilities in Texas and Indiana, as well as an office in Ontario.
Wastequip also was recognized as a top place to work for its community involvement. Through organized community outreach, employee volunteers routinely support several Charlotte-area nonprofits.
