Louisville, Kentucky-based Rudd Equipment Co. now is acting as the Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) dealer in most of Iowa, following its acquisition of assets from Ankeny, Iowa-based Housby Heavy Equipment.
According to Volvo CE, Housby has transferred Volvo inventory at three dealership locations in Iowa to Rudd Equipment, which is a subsidiary of Stockholm-based global authorized Volvo CE dealer Ferronordic.
Volvo CE describes Rudd as having been in business for 74 years and, after the Housby asset acquisition, as having 16 locations in eight states: Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
The new locations cover Volvo CE sales and service in most of Iowa and one county in Illinois. In that area, Rudd will be the exclusive Volvo CE dealer, adds the equipment company.
“Housby has built a strong presence in their region that Rudd will undoubtedly carry forward,” says Scott Young, head of Region North America at Volvo CE. “This expansion of Rudd’s territory allows Rudd to fully realize the benefits and synergies of both companies.”
Comments Henrik Carlborg, CEO of Ferronordic, “This is the first step in expanding our U.S. business. Building on the work of Kevin and Kelly Housby, we aim to continue developing a leading equipment dealership in Iowa and across the broader Midwest. We are excited to welcome the employees of Housby’s equipment dealership to Rudd and Ferronordic.”
The transaction does not affect Housby’s existing business involving Mack Trucks and other non-construction equipment-related firms.
