Vermeer Manufacturing Co., Pella, Iowa, has introduced the HG200, a compact horizontal grinder designed for material reduction in confined urban areas.
The HG200 enters the Vermeer line of horizontal grinders and offers an alternative to conventional compact brush chippers by processing brush and sizing the end product in one pass, producing mulch that can be used for general ground cover, landscape mulch compost or animal bedding.
The HG200 shares the same platform as the Vermeer BC1000XL brush chipper and is powered by an 85-hp Cummins diesel engine. The machine has a gross weight of 5,500 pounds, which allows it to be towed with a 1-ton truck.
A hammermill drum has the ability to process light contaminants, such as nails, small gravel/stone aggregates, bolts, glass fragments and plastics that are commonly found in light construction and demolition materials.
The unit comes standard with the SmartFeed control system, which automatically stops or reverses the feed rollers and infeed conveyor according to engine rpm drop.
