Vermeer Introduces HG8000TX Grinder

Horizontal grinder features a track undercarriage.

Vermeer Corporation, a manufacturer of wood-waste recycling equipment based in Pella, Iowa, has expanded its line of grinders with the addition of the Vermeer HG8000TX horizontal grinder with a track undercarriage.

The HG8000TX is a fully mobile horizontal grinder that allows the operator to efficiently move the machine around jobsites, with the tracks providing extra traction for unstable ground conditions, access to remote areas or transport across shallow creeks or ditches, according to the company.

Additionally, the HG8000TX is equipped with 28-inch double- or triple-grouser track pads and produces only 12 psi of pressure in soft ground conditions, according to the company. The undercarriage features a rigid-mounted, reinforced boxed track frame and the idlers are sealed for life, providing maintenance-free rollers that are sealed from possible contamination. The new horizontal grinder is powered by a 1050 horsepower engine and has a millbox opening of 50 inches high by 71.5 inches wide, allowing it to process a higher volume of raw materials, according to Vermeer.

Further features available on the new horizontal grinder include the AutoFeed System, which stops and reverses material from feeding into the duplex drum when engine rpm drops below an efficient operating range. Finally, the HG8000TX can be controlled by a wireless remote control, allowing the operator to control most functions from a maximum operating distance of 300 feet.
