Vancouver, Wash., Throws Out C&D Landfill Plan

City Council unanimously denies permit request.

The City Council of Vancouver, Wash., has unanimously denied a proposal to operate a construction and demolition debris landfill in the city, according to a report in the Columbian (Vancouver, Wash.).

A local developer has been working to reopen Boise Cascade’s former landfill site. He proposed a facility that would accept construction debris, as well as recycled wood, concrete, asphalt and metal, according to the report.

However, the City Council has voted to deny a request to rezone the 43-acre site as heavy industrial.
