USGBC Recognizes Builder Vista Dunes

Housing project earns Gold Certification as LEED for Homes Pilot Builder.

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) has recognized Vista Dunes Courtyard Homes in La Quinta, Calif., as a participant in the LEED for Homes pilot program.

 

More than 80 builders, including 13 affordable housing developers, have registered projects in the LEED for Homes program. Vista Dunes in the first multi-family affordable housing project in the county to achieve Gold Certification in the LEED program.

 

Vista Dunes Courtyard Homes is an 80-unit complex that will house more than 300 low-income residents on a 9.5 acre site in La Quinta, Calif. The complex incorporates principles of environmentally friendly design, energy and water efficiency, durability and sustainability.

 

LEED for Homes is an initiative designed to promote sustainable home building practices. The LEED for Homes Rating System is targeting the top 25 percent of homes with best practice environmental design and construction.
