USGBC Makes Appointment to LEED Committee

UNICCO VP to serve on core committee.

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) has appointed George R. Lohnes, vice president of UNICCO Service Co. of Newton, Mass., to the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Existing Buildings (LEED-EB) Core Committee.

Lohnes will also serve on the LEED-EB marketing subcommittee.

The LEED-EB Core Committee is responsible for the continual improvement of the LEED-EB Rating system, which launched in October 2004. The rating system seeks to maximize building operational efficiency while minimizing environmental impacts.

“We are pleased to have George on the LEED-EB Core Committee,” says Stuart Carron, Core Committee chairman. “It brings together a broad array of creative individuals who have the opportunity to truly influence and improve the nation’s commercial building infrastructure. George’s insights into green cleaning and green building facilities service practices will be helpful.”

UNICCO Service Co. offers maintenance, operations, cleaning, lighting and administrative/office services for industrial, corporate and multi-tenant office, education, retail, government and public venue facilities. More information is available at www.unicco.com.
