USA Gypsum Receives Waste Watchers Award for Drywall Recycling

Terry Weaver, president of USA Gypsum, Reinholds, Pa., has received the Waste Watchers Award for his company’s recycling and waste reduction achievements.

The Waste Watchers Award is given to recycling programs in Pennsylvania that have exhibited exemplary performance, according to the company press release.

The award was presented by Thomas Fidler of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection on behalf of the Professional Recyclers of Pennsylvania (PROP), Pennsylvania Waste Industries Association (PWIA) and the Keystone Chapter of the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) at the 11th Annual Fall Conference in State College, Pa.

USA Gypsum recycles 100 percent of drywall trimmings into five different products for more than 300 customers. Recycled gypsum products are used for agricultural, industrial and home use and are an environmentally sound way of recycling drywall, the press release says.

There are several benefits for customers of USA Gypsum drywall recycling services, the company says. First, it is cost effective and convenient, allowing contractors to save money on drywall disposal. Second, USA Gypsum has developed multiple services, including scrap removal and pick up service, roll off containers and drop off points, the company adds.

USA Gypsum not only services Pennsylvania but offers service throughout the Northeast ranging from New York City, Pittsburgh and Washington D.C.
