The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM) has filed a breach of contract suit against Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corp. (RIRRC) for allegedly stopping the removal of material at a sand and gravel site, according to a report in the Kent County Times (Wakefield, R.I.).
The Kent County Times reports that according to the complaint, the former Global Waste Recycling and Independent Sand and Gravel site in Colvintown, R.I., deposited piles of C&D debris at those facilities. In 2000, the DEM issued a notice to have the 205,000 cubic yards of debris removed.
According to the complaint, in 2002 Global Waste Recycling entered into a contract with RIRRC to remove the material. According to the report, the job was paid for but not completed.
