Euro Dismantling Services Limited (EDS) has been named the recipient of the Demolition Contractor of the Year award in the Construction Industry Awards 2009, also known as the Hard Hats. The awards are organized by the United Kingdom-based publication the Contract Journal.
EDS, a United Kingdom-based firm that specializes in dismantling work at sites in industry sectors such as the chemical, pharmaceutical, power, brewery and oil industries, was chosen from a field of several nominees.
Established in 1994, EDS has secured work from a number of multi-national clients, including BP, Shell, Pfizer, BNG, Diageo and GlaxoSmithKline, according to an EDS news release.
The company’s earliest work was in the United Kingdom, although it has subsequently been awarded contracts for clients’ overseas projects.
According to EDS, the firm is capable of full-service project management, including demolition, remediation, dismantling, decommissioning, remediation of land, scrap recycling, the recovery and divestment of assets such as metals and machinery, and disposing of the land after the clean-up process is complete. The firm has more than 200 employees and has offices in Turkey and Canada to serve the Central European and North American markets.
