A host of top companies involved in the construction industry in the United Kingdom have pledged that by 2012 they will cut the amount of construction waste shipped to landfills. The announcement comes a few weeks after 30 organizations signed up for the launch of the Waste & Resource Action Programme’s Construction Commitments: Halving Waste to Landfill.
In a recent survey undertaken by WRAP, 90 per cent of those questioned stressed that it is a still high priority despite fears that the economic climate will stall 'green' projects as companies become more concerned with the bottom line. Of this 90 percent, all believe they have the capabilities in place to implement WRAP’s Halving Waste to Landfill commitment.
