Track-Mounted Austrian Crusher Hits U.S. Market

Rockster Recycler launches new R900 impact crusher.

Kormann Rockster Recycler GMBH of Enns, Austria, has introduced the latest model in its product range of Rockster mobile track-mounted impact crushers.

The R900 “is dedicated to one major goal: Maximum flexibility in all applications and areas,” says Rockster CEO Wolfgang Kormann.

The machine has already been introduced into the European market, and the “twin brother of the R800 was extremely convincing, with enormous power reserves and best final grain quality tested on all of the standard applications as well as in hard natural stone,” says the company.

Rockster has developed its line with an eye toward the profitable recycling of asphalt, concrete and demolition rubble, as well as natural stone, according to Kormann.

Based on a full hydraulic model and a hydrostatic drive system, the R900 features two fully adjustable, non-incremental, hydraulic swing-beams to enable individual definition for the final grain size. The hydrostatic drive system also allows for specific variation of the crusher speed, responding to varying operating conditions.

Other features of the machine include an electrically regulated Caterpillar engine (EPA2), a generous entry opening (36” x 28”) and a hydrostat.

The crusher is also equipped with a four-hammer extra heavy-duty rotor, making operations possible not only in standard recycling applications but also in areas involving hard or abrasive aggregates. Material feed occurs over a hydraulically powered vibratory feeder with integrated pre-screening facility.

The machine’s designers have also focused on a compact design. Transport dimensions of 31’6” x 7’10” x 10’6” and a weight of only 24.5 tons are designed to create a smooth transport and quick set-up time.

R900 customer Josef Schweiger of Austria’s JK Beton Kirchweger GmbH says, “Due to its compact dimensions and a height of only [10’6”], the R900 can be transported by low-loader and without any special permits. Within the shortest time, the R900 was ready for operation.”

Adds, Schweiger, “The crushing procedure was smooth and efficient. Due to the modern design casing and the soundproofed housing, dust and noise emissions were minimal. The result . . . perfect and clean final material.”

Schweiger says his Managing Director was especially surprised at the enormous throughput rate. “Despite its compact size, the R900 provides a higher capacity than other comparable models,” he states.
