Barnegat Township (N.J.) officials have been inspecting Shoreline Sand & Gravel LLC after neighboring residents complained the company has continued to recycle wood and asphalt a month after its application for a permit to do so was denied, according to a report in the Asbury Park Press (Neptune, N.J.).
The Ocean County Solid Waste Advisory Council decided not to include Shoreline in its recycling plan in February, which made it impossible for the company to receive a recycling permit from the state Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).
However, the company applied for recycling exemptions with the DEP on March 14, according to the report.
