Town Amends Rule for C&D Recycling Centers

Skokie, Ill., makes zoning change to permit C&D recycling facility.

The village trustees of Skokie, Ill., have approved an amendment to the zoning code that now permits construction and demolition debris recycling centers to operate in the village, according to a report in the Skokie Review (Skokie, Ill.).

An applicant requested the zoning change to allow for a construction materials recycling center on a site that was within 500 feet of an arterial street and close to a high school, according to the report. Under the old zoning regulations, the facility could not be permitted at that location.

The Village Board’s action did not address this specific proposal, but cleared the way for construction materials recycling centers allowed under a special use permit and certain conditions, according to the report.
