The Tonawanda, New York, firm concluded its multiyear project in Lakeland, Florida, with the implosion of a 225-foot-tall boiler.

Total Wrecking & Environmental, an industrial demolition contractor based in Tonawanda, New York, finished its multiyear project at the Lakeland Electric C.D. McIntosh Jr. Power Plant with a final implosion March 4 at 11 a.m.

At the event, community members and project managers gathered with excitement to witness the second implosion phase of the power plant in Lakeland, Florida, where Total Wrecking demolished the 225-foot-tall fossil fuel-fired boiler. 

Total Wrecking & Environmental is excited to restore another critical area within the Lakeland McIntosh Power Plant to make way for newer, cleaner energy facilities,” Total Wrecking & Environmental founder and CEO Frank Bodami says.

The implosion was the culmination of the multiyear Lakeland Power Plant project that saw several tons of metal and concrete, as well as three massive units, fully demolished and cleared out.

Total Wrecking & Environmental has several other exciting projects currently in the works, including a new contract within the Florida region, a complex abatement and demolition at APG Polytech in West Virginia, and a number of other industrial areas across the nation. 

In coordination with the implosion, Total Wrecking & Environmental raised funds for WNY Heroes, Homes For Our Troops and Polk County Veterans Council.
