A tire recycling plant will begin shredding rubber for use in highways, playgrounds, artificial turf and molded consumer products in New York’s Capital Region at the end of the month, according to a report in the Times Union (Albany, N.Y.).
Crumb Rubber Manufacturers Inc. (CRM), a Los Angeles-based company that also has operations in Arizona, will open its $6-million facility in Colonie, N.Y., on Aug. 29.
According to the report, CRM has received financial assistance from local utility National Grid to help pay for electrical upgrades.
