Brunswick, Georgia-based heavy equipment dealer Tidewater Equipment Co. hosted a Demo Day event near Valdosta, Georgia, designed to show off the Tigercat line of wood processing and material handling equipment made by Canada-based Tigercat International Inc.

Tidewater has 20 locations in the southern United States, and its first demo day event since 2017 took place on the Langdale farm property in southern Georgia, which the equipment firm says is a key region where Tidewater has a strong support presence and a high concentration of forest industry customers.

Equipment demonstrated at the event consisted of more than 20 Tigercat machines, including loaders and wood grinders.

Tidewater says the April event was its largest and best attended ever, tallying some 1,600 visitors to watch live demonstrations made possible in part to operators provided by Tidewater Equipment customer Sandlin Forest Products, Lake Park, Georgia.

“The turnout has been spectacular [and] the weather has been spectacular,” Tidewater President Jamie Young says. “It’s been a blessing to Tidewater and our customers and we are very grateful to have the turnout we have. We are trying to be the best dealer we can possibly be.”

In addition to material handling and wood grinding equipment, a Tigercat 480B track mulcher was on hand, according to Tidewater and Tigercat.

Tigercat brought 57 people to the event, including field representatives, product managers, designers and what it calls key senior-level management personnel.

“I congratulate the Tidewater and Tigercat crews who worked diligently to set up this event, and of course, first and foremost, our customers,” Tigercat founder and President Ken MacDonald says. “Without them, there is no reason for the rest of us. This is simply the best way to meet and get to know our customers.”

The event was tied to Tidewater’s 77th anniversary celebration and awards were presented during an employee appreciation dinner held the evening before the demo day.

“A venue of this magnitude takes years to plan, and I’ll say the Tidewater group certainly hit a home run,” Tigercat U.S. Sales Manager Kevin Selby says. “Visiting and spending time with the team from one of our largest business partners and Tigercat customers from the five states they represent all at one venue was invaluable.

“This demo was probably the most impressive event I have attended in my 25-year career at Tigercat. Thanks to the Tidewater team and our customers for making the demo a memorable event and a huge success.”
