Texas County Continues Hurricane Cleanup

Orange County, Texas, continues to contract for debris removal.

Nearly five months after Hurricane Rita hit southeast Texas, Orange County, Texas, is still settling its debris cleanup, according to a report in the Orange County Leader (Orange, Texas).

At a recent meeting, county commissioners settled some hurricane cleanup financial matters, approving the payment of $107,146 to Merit Construction for repairs to various county buildings, according to the report.

Commissioners have also awarded a contract for vegetative debris removal to Plessala Enterprises, which will receive $3 per cubic yard for limbs and stumps up to 18 inches in diameter.

County engineers still have to determine who will pick up demolition debris, according to the report.
