TCEQ Extends Hearing Request Deadline for C&D Landfill

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has extended the deadline for submitting hearing requests concerning the proposed 773-acre landfill in Montgomery, Texas, according to a report in the Courier (Humble, Texas).

Residents now have until Sept. 26 to request a hearing.

“The comment period for the landfill was extended because a second public meeting was requested, so we extended the comment period to encompass the comments received at that meeting,” Andrea Morrow, TCEQ spokeswoman, tells the Courier.

According to the report, TCEQ hosted a second public meeting March 10 with Imre Szekelyhidi, who is project manager for Montgomery Landfill Solutions LP, the company that wants to build the landfill. The question and answer portion of the first public meeting was eliminated due to the number of residents in attendance.
