Lake Champlain Chocolates LLC has opened a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)-certified packaging and distribution facility in Burlington, Vt.
The 47,000-square-foot building is expected to earn LEED certification based on qualities such as energy-efficient HVAC and lighting fixtures including daylight and occupancy sensors, using natural light through energy-efficient skylights and windows, high insulation values for walls and the roof, using FSC-certified finished woods and recycling building materials during construction.
The architect is John Anderson of John Anderson Studio. The general contractor is Tom Mackin of TFM Construction Co. John F. Penney, PE of JFP Consulting Services is the commissioning agent.
