Superior Industries Inc., a Morris, Minnesota-based manufacturer and global supplier of bulk material processing and handling systems, has reached an agreement to purchase the assets of a crusher manufacturing plant in Pekin, Illinois, owned by FLSmidth.
According to Superior, the major asset associated with the transaction is a 10-year-old, 70,000 square foot plant that currently employs 30 production staff members. Superior says it plans to use the new facility as a U.S.-based manufacturing center for cone crushing equipment.
Earlier this spring, Superior purchased Clemro Western Ltd., a Calgary, Alberta, Canada-based firm that has manufactured its own line of cone and jaw crushers for more than three decades.
Superior supplies bulk crushing, screening, washing and conveying systems for industries including construction aggregates, mining, bulk terminals, agriculture, power and biomass. In addition to its home plant in Minnesota, the 43-year-old company operates from additional engineering and manufacturing sites in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan and Nebraska, in the U.S.; Alberta and New Brunswick in Canada; and from three production facilities in Brazil.
