Sterling Construction Co., Houston, has announced that it was the apparent low bidder on a $90.1 million Texas Department of Transportation (TX-DOT) contract in Montgomery County, Texas.
The project entails the reconstruction and expansion of approximately five miles of U.S. Highway 59 just north of Kingwood, Texas. Included in the scope of work are a storm drainage system, six bridges, 350,000 cubic yards of excavation and 630,000 square yards of 10 to 15 inch concrete paving.
Work is expected to being in January 2007 and continue for about 30 months, according to a press release from Sterling.
This contract is the largest award for a single project in Sterling’s 51-year history, according to CEO Patrick Manning.
Sterling Construction Co. is a heavy civil construction company that specializes in the building and reconstruction of transportation and water infrastructure in Texas.
