Southern Crushed Concrete Picks Spectrum Construction Software

Company opts for Spectrum, citing ease of use, integration with other systems.

Webber LLC, Houston, needed construction management software that addressed a specific issue confronting its sister company Southern Crushed Concrete’s  aggregates/recycling business. To remedy the problem, the company chose Spectrum Construction software from Dexter + Chaney.

The issue, according to Richard Dyke, Webber CFO, says, "We had multiple systems and spreadsheets that were not integrated, which led to inherent inefficiencies and unreliable data."

Following a search for construction software, Webber chose Spectrum for its Southern Crushed Concrete company. As a bonus, Webber saw an immediate ability to leverage Spectrum into its own machinery and equipment division, giving Webber a tool to manage equipment costs, control maintenance activities and track equipment operation rates.
The company purchased 16 modules in Spectrum's Enterprise Edition, including the company’s Spectrum Document Imaging module.

"We selected Spectrum because of its heavy/highway capabilities, ease of use and integration with our existing systems," Dyke says. "Prior to Spectrum, we didn't have a solution necessarily for the aggregate business or to help us with equipment maintenance and tracking.

"In Dexter + Chaney, we also got a company with a long history of serving the needs of the construction industry--specifically for us, the heavy/highway marketplace," Dyke adds. "It's a company that's not afraid to invest in leading-edge technology and solutions that ultimately will have a positive impact on our bottom line. We also were looking for a long-term business partner that was willing to grow with us. We wanted a partner that we could collaborate with and challenge to think 'better, faster and cheaper.'"

"We're honored that Southern Crushed Concrete and Webber, LLC have chosen Dexter + Chaney and Spectrum," John Chaney, president of Dexter + Chaney, says. "We, too, view the relationship as a long-term partnership. That's how we treat all of our 1,000-plus clients, many of whom have been with us for more than 20 years. Our mantra is to 'help construction companies grow,' and we're looking forward to putting that philosophy to work for Southern Crushed Concrete and Webber."

Southern Crushed Concrete provides construction, materials, recycling and demolition services to internal, governmental and commercial customers. It is a sister company to Webber, a large heavy-highway contactor in Texas. Webber, with a workforce of 1,800, focuses on highways, bridges, ports, marine, airports and Department of Department of Defense federal projects.
