South Carolina Town Suspends C&D Debris Pickup

City officials say the collection of C&D debris and appliance will end because of high gas prices.

City officials in Pickens, S.C., have announced that higher fuel costs have led them to stop the collection of construction and demolition debris and appliances from residents, according to a report in the Greenville News (Greenville, S.C).

The city’s C&D landfill is also scheduled to close, which contributed to the city’s decision.

The City Council’s vote included at least a 30-day notice for residents before the city stops pickup of C&D material and appliances, according to the report.
