The Gaffney, S.C. City Council awarded a bid at its Aug. 16 meeting to Sossamon Construction, a South Carolina-based company, to demolish three buildings in the city. The bid was for $310,4000.
The three buildings to be demolished include a police station, an administration building and a community development building. On the heels of the completion of the demolition project the city will be building one building to house all three offices.
Along with demolishing the three buildings, the project will include some minor asbestos removal as well as some site prep work in advance of the construction project, including grading of the location and the installation of utility lines.
According to a local report, the demolition project is expected to take 60 days.
