Asphalt shingle recycling markets and techniques will be the focus of the Fourth Asphalt Shingle Recycling Forum, to be held on Nov. 5-6, 2009, at the Doubletree Hotel Chicago Magnificent Mile.
The forum, organized by the Construction Materials Recycling Association (CMRA), will offer sessions on several topics, including:
· The environmental benefits of using shingles in road construction;
· The value of using recycled shingles in hot-mix asphalt;
· Shingle recycling specifications; and
· Alternate end uses and processing techniques.
The event is co-sponsored by the Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association (ARMA), Owens- Corning and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). Other sponsors are the U.S. EPA, National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA), National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA), the Recycled Materials Resource Center (RMRC) and equipment maker Peterson.
