The Town of Truckee, Calif., Nevada County Recycles and the California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB) have announced a scrap tire collection event on Sept. 16, in Truckee, according to a report in the Truckee Today (Truckee, Calif.).
The event is funded by a grant that Nevada County Recycles received from the CIWMB. Tires collected will be hauled and recycled by Waste Recovery West of Sacramento, Calif.
The crumb rubber from the recycled tires can be used to make products such as rubberized asphalt, synthetic turf playing fields, playground surfacing and flooring.
