Schutte-Buffalo Hammermill,based in Buffalo, New York, has been acquired by Martin Berardi, a former executive with the equipment company Moog Inc., East Aurora, New York. The acquisition was made Dec. 29, 2014. Schutte-Buffalo Hammermill is a manufacturer of various types of size reduction equipment.
Thomas Warne and James Guarino, the former owners of Schutte-Buffalo Hammermill, will remain at the company as president and general manager, respectively.
Schutte-Buffalo, which has 30 employees, targets a range of industries with its equipment, including the biomass and wood recycling sector, electronic recycling and carpet and shingle recycling.
According to a report in the Buffalo News, Berardi says he sees a strong upside for the company in some of the emerging markets such as biomass processing and alternative fuels.
In 2001 Schutte Pulverizer Co. Inc. purchased the assets of Buffalo Hammermill Corp., bringing together two companies with a combined 160 years of experience in the field of size reduction equipment design and manufacturing. The company has since operated as Schutte-Buffalo Hammermill.
In 2004, Warne and Guarino purchased the company outright from retiring owner Harry Schutte.
