Ruukki, a manufacturer of sandwich panels made of mineral wool insulation core between two steel sheet layers, has launched a service to recycle the panel waste generated from the panel installation stage.
The Helsinki, Finland-based company says that the collection service will cut installers' waste charges by as much as 50 percent, making it easier to process construction and demolition material. The company will target its service to the building industry, with a heavy emphasis on southern Finland, the company says.
For the owner of a building, the recycling service means potentially more credits in LEED and BREEAM environmental certification because construction site recycling has been taken into account during the construction stage.
