Rockwood Pigments Increases Prices

Rising production costs to blame.

Rockwood Pigments NA Inc., Princeton, N.J., has announced that it will increase prices between 5 and 7 percent for the majority of its pigment products sold in North America as of Nov. 1. The increase will depend on grade and packaging type.

Carlton Johnson, president of Rockwood Pigments, says the increase is a response to rising energy and materials costs.

“Most of our pigments are metal based and directly impacted by the cost of scrap steel,” he says. “Additionally, the energy required to produce and transport products also has increased significantly since the beginning of the year. With this realistic adjustment of our selling prices, we will be able to continue to provide the quality service and supply assurance our customers expect.”

Rockwood’s Pigments Division is a worldwide supplier of iron oxides and colored inorganic pigments for construction, coatings, plastics and specialty applications. The division’s manufacturing sites are located in the United States, United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Canada, Australia, and China with offices in Singapore and Shanghai.
