Rockster Opens Plant in Austria

New facility will house crusher manufacturing operations.

More than 300 visitors came to Ennsdorf in Lower Austria in mid-March to celebrate the opening of the new Rockster Recycler manufacturing plant and office.

Rockster Recycler CEO Wolfgang Kormann and sales manager Norbert Feichtinger reviewed the company’s five-year history for the assembled guests, and several local and regional politicians helped the duo take a pickax to a 1 meter by 50 centimeter concrete block in a symbolic “first crushing” ceremony.

Entertainment and fun were also offered in the form of an opportunity for guests to learn to ride Segways and dining from a buffet stocked with Austrian delicacies.

Playing off its corporate slogan of “Rocking Around the World,” Rockster also hosted a contest with prizes that included several different travel packages with diverse destinations in Europe.

The new building in Ennsdorf, Austria, is a few miles from the old headquarters, according to the company. The new 25,000-square-foot building provides more space for the company’s 24 employees and provides for expansion opportunities, says Kormann.

“The new building has changed a lot,” says Kormann, “especially in areas like quality management, research and development as well as after sales, we have created completely new opportunities.”

The plant configuration at Ennsdorf will allow Rockster Recycler to perform an additional and final inspection of all machines. “Each new machine is checked and tested over again at Ennsdorf and can be adapted exactly to the individual demands of the customers,” says Kormann. “This makes us more flexible and guarantees a maximum increase in quality for our distribution partners as well as for the final customers”.

The new building’s Service Center is where Rockster will perform maintenance, service and repair jobs for customers on site in Ennsdorf. A larger stock room provides more space for storing machine components and wear parts, says the company.

The 12,000-square-foot company-owned R&D Center provides enough space for testing completely new machine concepts, says the company in a news release. “The R&D Center makes it possible for us to try new technology under realistic conditions – and this in our own factory and not at the customer’s site,” says Kormann.

Regarding future expansion, “The new building provides capacity for about 40 employees,” says Kormann, “so we still have reserves for future projects.” He adds, though, “We are not planning to extend our staff to more than 33 people, because we want to stay flexible. We prefer short

communication channels and flat hierarchies in order to be able to react quickly to the demands of our business partners, customers and above all to the market requirements.”

Despite economic conditions, the company says it has many new projects lined up for 2009. “Within the last years we have convinced many customers in Europe [of] our concept and the advantages of our machines,” says sales manager Norbert Feichtinger. “Now we will start to provide these advantages.”
