The Ready Mixed Concrete Research and Education Foundation releases new LEED resource

The Ready Mixed Concrete (RMC) Research and Education Foundation announces the release of a new resource: National Ready Mix Concrete Association (NRMCA) Material Ingredient Reporting Guidance. The document, funded by the Foundation and developed in collaboration with Arup and NRMCA, provides information and resources about how ready mixed concrete producers may contribute toward the credit titled Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) v4 Materials and Resources: Building Product Disclosure and Optimization—Material Ingredients. To qualify for the credit, concrete producers will need to work with their suppliers to obtain comprehensive information on the material ingredients and chemical constituents of all of the components used in their mixtures.

“Increased transparency and the disclosure of construction material ingredients is becoming the norm rather than the exception, and it is an important step toward sustainability. The Foundation is pleased to support the concrete industry by providing this new resource detailing the different paths for producers to obtain and report the necessary information in the most effective and efficient way,” says Foundation Chairman Matt Wood of Ash Grove Cement Company. Foundation Executive Director Julie Garbini also remarked that “The Foundation has a very strong commitment to helping both the concrete industry and the construction industry as a whole to implement more green building practices. This new resource is one of the ways we are honoring that commitment.”
