RMC and ACI Foundations Form Strategic Partnership

Agreement will help each group further their goals of providing programs that benefit the concrete industry.

The RMC Research & Education Foundation, Silver Spring, Md., and the ACI Foundation, Farmington Hills, Mich., have formed a new strategic partnership. The Boards of the two organizations voted to approve entering into the strategic partnership at their respective March 18, 2009 meetings.

As part of this agreement, the RMC Research & Education Foundation will work more closely with the ACI Foundation to identify research and educational needs within the concrete industry, particularly related to standards. The ACI Foundation will assist the RMC Research & Education Foundation with the dissemination of its final reports and studies.

“Our Board of Trustees enthusiastically voted to approve this agreement to work more closely with the ACI Foundation,” says RMC Research & Education Foundation Chairman Karl Watson Jr. “Their ideas for new programs, along with assistance in distributing research reports to a wide-ranging audience, will help us continue to improve quality and professionalism in the concrete industry.”

Claude Bedard, ACI Foundation chairman when the partnership was formed, notes, “The past collaboration of our organizations has proven highly successful and we look forward to continuing that work. This is a tremendous opportunity to maximize industry resources, avoid duplication of efforts and improve the concrete industry.”

This agreement helps each group to further their goals of providing programs that will benefit both the national and international concrete industry and the citizens of the United States, according to both organizations.

The ACI Foundation is designed to receive, administer and expend funds for educational, research, scientific and charitable purposes to increase the knowledge and understanding of concrete materials and to support programs that improve concrete design and construction. The ACI Foundation consists of three councils: the Concrete Research Council, the Scholarship Council and the Strategic Development Council.  More information can be found at www.ACIFoundation.org
