ReStore Considers Possible Merger

ReStore could merge with fellow Vermont nonprofit ReCycle North.

ReStore, a Montpelier, Vt.-nonprofit organization that resells commercial and industrial surplus materials, is considering a merger with another Vermont nonprofit, ReCycle North, according to a report in the Times Argus (Montpelier, Vt.).

The board of directors at ReCycle North will meet July 16 to develop a memorandum of understanding to facilitate the merger, according to the report.

The ReStore must be out of its current location by Sept. 1. According to the report, the store was already under economic strain when its warehouse roof collapsed last February, destroying some 80 percent of its inventory.

Under the terms of the proposed agreement, ReCycle North would expand its waste reduction, poverty relief and job skills programs in central Vermont and the ReStore would continue to act as a retail location.
