Some residents of Blair, Neb., have raised complaints over the smell of a pile of gypsum stored near their homes, according to a report from WOI-TV/DT in Des Moines, Iowa.
The concerns of some 40 homeowners in a subdivision in the town were raised at a recent town meeting.
Soil Solutions LLC, a Holstein, Iowa, company, markets the gypsum as a soil additive and stores the product at a rock quarry near the subdivision, according to the report.
Some residents have complained that the smell of the pile wafts into the nearby development, and they want the pile moved.
The Washington County Board ruled over the summer that the pile had to be removed by Oct. 31, but the company has asked for an extension, according to the report.
