Reno, Nevada planning officials have delayed a decision on a request for annexing 96 acres into the city boundaries and a special-use permit for the Reno Tahoe Construction Materials recycling facility because of concerns over possible noise.
The item was to have been decided at the May 12 planning commission meeting but has been delayed to an unknown date, planning officials said.
The permit would eliminate the requirement of a wall between the industrial site and residential properties, eliminate a 10-foot landscaping requirement between industrial sites and residential properties and eliminate a fencing requirement for outdoor storage next to residential property.
At a planning commission public hearing in March, one person in attendance spoke in favor of the project, saying that the applicants had satisfied his request for buffering against his approved but unbuilt Summit Ridge condominium project located to the southwest of the site.
Two residents who live in a single-family subdivision site to the west of the site spoke in opposition of the special-use permit request, citing noise as their primary concern.
